We learned that Central Wyoming College received a favorable audit and prevailed in a tax protest, were updated on city issues, listened to students of St. Margartet's School recite Shakespeare, learned about the Gates of Change program and talked about an upcoming bazaar, tree lighting ceremony and holiday meals for shut-ins.

Bank robbery, school lockdown

An armed robbery was reported Friday, Nov. 6, at US Bank on Broadway in Riverton and Trinity Lutheran School next door went on lockdown. Classes resumed briefly, until school officials were given notice that the suspect was still at large.

Pancake Breakfast

The 40&8 pancake breakfast was held over the weekend to raise money for nursing scholarships for students in the Central Wyoming College nursing program.

Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis and the state's director of parks, Milward Simpson, talked about pressing issues. We also were updated on the county's hospice home and Habitat for Humanity projects. Local police officers also stopped by to tell us about holiday programs that help people in need and naturopath Walt Conard talked about cancer awareness. Oh, and because it's Halloween week, a guest told us about haunted places and others told us where to go to celebrate the holiday. Excerpts of selected interviews can be found in our Audio Clips.

We talked about city, college and state budgets with Carter Napier, Jo Anne McFarland and Gov. Dave Freudenthal; and discussed the dangers of drugs with a US Marshal and domestic violence with County Attorney Brian Varn. KTAK provided live coverage at the Wyoming Rock and Gem Show. The exhibits were well attended by all ages. Many treasures could be found as well as fun activities for the young.
 
Riverton Chamber of Commerce Sock Hop Dance

The Sock Hop Dance sponsored by the Riverton Chamber of Commerce was Friday, June 19th in the City Parking Lot. The weather was beautiful and all those who attended had a terrific time.
 
Trinity Lutheran School Celebrates the Holidays in its Spring Program

On May 12th, Trinity Lutheran students and parents gathered to Celebrate the Holidays of the year for their annual spring program. The celebration occurred in St. Margaret's gym. Each class celebrated a different holiday with poems, speeches and songs.

Trinity Lutheran Schools Annual Art and Science Show

On Monday, March 23, Trinity Lutheran School had its annual Spring Art and Science Show. The primary grades had a great variety of art work displayed on the walls. The middle grades created science projects and displays. And, the older grades created carnival rides such as rollercoasters and merry-go-rounds. In addition, the 4 and 5th graders had a bake sale as a fundraiser. The event was well attended.

Riverton Mites Hockey Team play in Casper

The River Rats Mites (ages 4-8 yrs) went to Casper for their first hockey tournament February 20-22. Although they played teams who have access to ice all year long, our little players skated hard and well, and learned a bunch. On February 28th, the Mites went to Pinedale for a tournament with comparable teams. The River Rats faired much better tying one game and winning their last. Thanks to Coach Brad Brink who has worked so hard and well with these children.
 
Trinity students sing at RHS Girls BB game

The students from Trinity Lutheran School sang the National Anthem for the RHS Girls Basketball game on Friday, Feb. 20th. The Senior RHS girls also received recognition from the coaches and teammates at their last home game. Riverton fell to Cheyenne East 28 to 54.

St. Margaret's Winter Festival was held on Friday, January 30th. The gymnasium and school were filled with blow up slides and games and many, many happy children. For an entry cost, children could ride rides or play games for prizes. All activities were run by parent volunteers. And, judging from all of the smiles, it was a sucess
 
Wild West Carnival Ice Sculptures

Regional artists competed on a beautiful Saturday to create amazing sculptures made from ice. Trophies were giving for the beginner, intermediate and professional classes. Get out to Main Street and see the ice before it melts!!!
 
Wild West R/C Fly In

Pilots and observers of all ages gathered Wednesday, January 21st, to watch remote control airplanes and helicopters fly around the RMS gym. The group gathers every other Wednesday and everyone is welcome to come and join or watch. This fly-in was in conjunction with the Wild West Winter Carnival.
