The 2009 Riverton Little League championship belongs to the Rangers.
At last night's end of the year celebration the Rangers downed the Cardinals 11-4. After going two innings scoreless the bats would light up the scoreboard. The Cardinals plated their first run in the top half, but in the bottom of the third the Rangers did their damage scoring 6 runs to take the lead for good. The Rangers added 4 more in the 4th and another in the 5th for their 11 total. The Cardinals final 3 runs came in the 5th inning.
Ryan Axthelm was on the mound and was stellar for the Rangers going 6 1/3 innings in the 6-inning scheduled game. The only reason Ryan wouldn't finish the complete game is because of little league pitch count rules, Axthelm threw 90 pitches and took the win. Ty Woodward came on to finish off the final two Cardinal batters.
John Werbelow had a huge day at the plate going 3 for 3 and had two doubles including one off of the wall. Ty Cantrell, Eric Horyza, Bailey Myers, and Tyler Matsen also had hits.
For the Cardinals starting pitcher Dallon Napier had a double and Jordan Mills had a couple hard hit singles.
Congrats from KTAK/KVOW to the Rangers and ALL Little Leaguers on a great season!
