WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Washington Wizards have extended the contract of head coach Eddie Jordan, keeping him with the team through the 2009-10 season, the team said on Monday.
Jordan has a record of 196-214 in five seasons in Washington and is the NBA's third-longest tenured head coach behind Utah's Jerry Sloan and San Antonio's Gregg Popovich.
He has led the team to the playoffs in each of the last four seasons.
"Eddie has done an outstanding job and has been instrumental in making us a perennial playoff team, so we are pleased to reward that success by picking up the option on his contract," Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld said in a statement.
Financial terms of the contract were not released.
