September 19, 2008 - 12:00 a.m. EST

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Buffalo Sabres and right wing Jason Pominville have agreed terms on a five-year contract extension, the team said on Thursday.

The new deal will keep Pominville with the Sabres through the 2013-14 season. He was scheduled to become a restricted free agent at the end of next campaign.

Pominville, 25, finished second on the team in scoring last season, recording 27 goals and 53 assists. He has 178 points in 222 games for the Sabres.
