Riverton parade honors 7th anniversary of 9/11

A parade in Riverton will commemorate the seventh anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

The parade was set to begin at the K-Mart parking lot Thursday morning at 7 AM.

All are welcome to watch the parade, and organizers say "any car with an American flag on it" is welcome to participate in the parade itself.

I WANT TO SAY WHAT A GREAT PARADE IT WAS. THE FACT THAT THE OILFIELD CREWS PUT THIS TOGETHER EVERY YEAR IS SPECIAL IN ITSELF. I WAS HOWEVER, VERY APPALLED AT THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WHO GAVE ABSOLUTELY NO REGUARD TO THE PARADE AND THE AMERICAN FLAGS BEING FLOWN IN HONOR OF THOSE LOST. THE PARADE WENT UP MAIN STREET AND CAME DOWN AND THERE WERE SO MANY PEOPLE WHO WERE RUDLY HONKING AT THOSE WHO GAVE THE TIME TO STOP AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE PARADE AND THE FLAG AND WHAT IT STOOD FOR. I WAS ONE WHO STOPPED AND GAVE THEM THAT HONOR NOT WORRYING THAT MY KIDS WOULD BE LATE FOR SCHOOL OR THAT I WAS GOING TO BE LATE FOR WORK. SURE WISH OTHERS COULD HAVE BEEN THAT CURTIOUS. SERIOUS LACK OF PATRIOTISM IN THIS COUNTY!
