There are two new teams at #1 this week with four other teams staying put. Wait a minute....you say...there are only five divisions yet SIX number ones?
Yep.
Buffalo has tied Jackson for the top spot in 4A this week. The Bison rolled over Lander 49-0 while the Broncs beat down their Idaho opponent 34 to 12. Jackson actually doubled up the Bison in #1 votes, but, Buffalo out pointed Jackson in the #2 votes 14-3. In fact, of the 21 voters, one of them did not vote for Jackson at all.
Powell moved up a spot to third this week replacing Douglas who drops to fourth. Worland remains at #5 after falling to Powell 7-13. Rawlins is one of only four teams in 4A that went 1-0 in Week 1 yet the Outlaws did not crack the top five.
Only two teams in 1A won their first game of the season. This week's poll has Cokeville back on top of 1A football. Southeast's loss to 2A's #2 team Burns 17-28 swayed voters away from the Cyclones to the Panthers. CHS got 9 of the 14 top votes with Southeast getting the other six. Hulett moves to third with their win and Guernsey slips down to fourth. Burlington stays at #5. Upton fell from the top five with thier Week 1 loss.
In 5A its pretty much the same. Only five teams won last week in the division and all five of them are in the rankings this week. Green River is still on top with 13 of the 20 #1 votes. Natrona is second with East third despite getting more #1's than NC. Gillette is fourth and Evanston is the new #5 as Sheridan falls.
3A sees Kemmerer #1 with 16 of 18 #1 ballots. Glenrock is second and Wright moves up to third. Moorcroft downed last week's #3 Lovell and the Wolves are ranked for the first time in over two years. Thermopolis stopped a 19 game losing streak beating Big Piney in overtime and the Bobcats get this week's #5 spot in 3A Football.
2A is the same as the pre season poll. Big Horn pulled 14 of the 18 top ballots to stay #1. Burns is a close second with Riverside and even closer third. Lusk remains fourth with Wind River and their last second win over 3A Pinedale #5.
