WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. says North Korea has agreed to every nuclear inspection demand the Bush administration has sought, so the North is being dropped from a U.S. terrorism blacklist.
The agreement is intended to salvage a faltering nuclear disarmament accord in the short time before President Bush leaves office in January.
State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said at a news conference Saturday that the inspection deal was reached after negotiations between U.S. and North Korean officials.
North Korea will allow atomic experts to take samples and conduct forensic tests at all of its declared nuclear facilities and undeclared sites, on mutual consent. The North will permit experts to verify it has told the truth about transfers of nuclear technology and an alleged uranium program.
