Riv man jumps from careening truck

A Riverton man escaped serious injury Thursday afternoon when his oversized mobile crane careened out of control down the mountainside on South Pass southeast of Lander.

Robin Stedman, 49, lost control of the vehicle after knocking it out of gear while adjusting his seat, said Trooper Brian Bragonier of the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Unable to get the vehicle back in gear and unable to stop, Stedman ran the crane off the road and jumped, said Bragonier.

Stedman suffered a broken ankle. He was transported to the Lander hospital. Owner of the vehicle is R and R Rig Service of Riverton.
