Vigil Set for Monday
prep football

A third tragedy has rocked the world of two more communities in the state.

17 year old Mitchell Birch was killed in a one car roll over Thursday evening.

Birch attended Encampment High, but, played football for Saratoga. The Panthers postponed their Friday game with Burns in the wake of the tragedy.

Saratoga football coach Heath Hayes said there will be a candle light vigil on Monday 7:30 @ Encampment HS. The funeral will be Tuesday @ 1:00pm.

He went on to say, "The students of Encampment and Saratoga along with the Panther football team appreciate all the calls, thoughts and prayers as we go through this time. We are also keeping Wright and Dubois High Schools in our thoughts and prayers as now, unfortunately, we are all going through this. Thanks to WyoPreps for keeping everyone informed on these unfortunate events."

It was just two weeks ago when Dubois football player Delbert Madrid was killed when his car rolled over after a Wednesday practice. Brittany "Mae" Rentas of Wright high school died in Denver after injuries she sustained in a car accident on September 6th.

Unfortunately, there are similarities in the accidents. Both Rentas and Birch were beleived to be texting on their phones while driving. Neither Birch or Madrid were determined to be wearing seat belts at the time of their accidents.
