Riverton's new fire station gets a name

Riverton’s newest fire station on Broadway Avenue has been officially named Centennial Fire Station. The name commemorates the Riverton Volunteer Fire Department’s 100 years of service to the community. Chief Brady Patrick said nearly a dozen engines will be rolled out next week at the station as the department welcomes the community to its one-year anniversary celebration. The open house is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 8) at the station at 404 S. Broadway Avenue. Patrick said visitors can tour the station, then check out the new equipment, which includes the department’s latest acquisition, Engine No. 10. The open house is being held in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week, which is Oct. 6-10.
